This position requires a Registered Nurse to:

  • Maintain current licenses and certifications to include state-specific Nursing license, BLS, and ACLS.
  • Maintain professional competency through continuing education.
  • Adhere to the standards and guidelines outlined by QUAD A.
  • Possess phenomenal efficiency and attention to detail with a strong knowledge of operation procedures and patient safety.
  • Maintain accurate daily surgical, temperature, and narcotic log books.
  • Be compassionate and sensitive to the privacy of patients.
  • Be knowledgeable of policies and procedures specific to the facility.
  • Possess the ability to be a critical thinker and fast to act in emergencies.
  • Perform infection control activities to include observation of the surgical team during procedures, taking corrective actions as needed to maintain aseptic technique. Provide a surgically clean environment for patient care and ensure the sterility of supplies and instrumentation used during operative procedures.
  • Stocking of supplies as needed to ensure there are no deficits, this may include lifting, moving, pushing, or pulling >50lbs at times

A Registered Nurse functioning in the Pre-Operative role is responsible for:

  • Assessment of patients prior to surgery and alleviating any concerns.
  • Completing a pre-operative checklist to include ensuring NPO status and confirming surgical details.
  • Ensuring accurate testing is completed and documented prior to procedure including, but not limited to, HCG and nicotine testing.
  • Insertion of IV.

A Registered Nurse functioning in the Circulating role is responsible for:

  • Escorting patients back to the OR and ensuring they are positioned on the bed properly.
  • Applying SCDs and Bair Hugger to patients and ensuring they are in working order.
  • Assisting anesthesia personnel with the intubation/extubation of patients, the monitoring of fluid volume balance, vital signs, and the thermo-regulation of the patient.
  • Performing pre-operative time outs and ensuring all staff is present and acknowledges understanding.
  • Preparing patients for surgery by disinfecting their skin at the operation site.
  • Acting as the patient’s advocate throughout the case to ensure sterility and patient safety are the utmost priority.
  • Assisting the surgical team during surgery with opening sterile instruments as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation for procedures in accordance with QUAD A standards.
  • Applying proper dressings and garments at completion of procedure.
  • Transferring patient to PACU with anesthesia provider and giving report to accepting PACU RN.
  • Assisting the surgical team in cleaning of the OR suite and preparing for the next case.

A Registered Nurse functioning in the PACU role is responsible for:

  • Obtaining report from Circulating RN and Anesthesia provider upon patient’s arrival to PACU.
  • Assessing and monitoring post-operative patients’ level of consciousness and vital signs.
  • Assessing and treating pain, nausea, and other post-operative side effects of anesthesia.
  • Maintaining appropriate and accurate documentation in the patient's record.
  • Collaborating with the medical team to facilitate timely specialized interventions as needed.
  • Promoting a relaxing and quiet environment for recovery.
  • Providing comfort and reassurance to patients and family members.
  • Educating designated caregivers with verbal and written patient-specific discharge instructions and ensuring their understanding.
  • Ensuring the patient meets necessary discharge criteria and transporting patient to caregiver.

Compensation

$75,000-$85,000 per year
